Open Letter to Betsy DeVos

My public school education was phenomenal.  I attended four public elementarys, one junior high, and one high school.

I was pushed, prodded, encouraged, and inspired to be the best student that I could be.

Most of my peers were pretty smart. Most of us turned out to be well adjusted and responsible contributors to our country.

I was surrounded by the spirit of learning my whole entire life.  My grandparents were public school teachers.  The majority of my family on my mother's side were all public school teachers.
To this day, my 80 year old grandmother still runs into her former students and they thank her profusely for the lessons she taught.

I am not a teacher but I do have two children in public school now.  The schools that they attend are rated exemplary by Texas standards.  I'm confident and optimistic about their futures.

I make it my business to further their education at home with additional reading, facts, and hidden figures that they might not learn in school.

As a parent, this is my responsibility.

As a parent and taxpayer, I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt to bring positive enrichments for students who need it most.

Can you help more public schools to become exemplary?

We have to invest in our future.  The children are our future (#WhitneyHouston).  In the paraphrased words of Senator Tim Kaine, "public school kids need a champion".

Will their champion?
